Corporate Finance Assistant Manager / Manager New Zealand | Advisory & Deals Some corporate finance roles are all spreadsheet, no substance. This is not one of them. This is an opportunity to step into a genuinely hands-on Corporate Finance role within a highly respected medium-tier advisory firm in New Zealand, where you will work directly with Partners, influence outcomes, and see the full life cycle of deals and advisory work from day one. If you are at the stage where you want more responsibility, broader exposure, and a better quality of life, this role ticks all three boxes. Why this firm? This is a firm that combines strong local market credibility with national and international reach. Advisory work here is not siloed, political, or transactions for its own sake. The culture is collaborative, pragmatic, and refreshingly human. They genuinely recognise that:

  • Careers are marathons, not sprints
  • Performance improves when balance exists
  • People do their best work when they are trusted

You will be known as a person, not a chargeable code. About the Corporate Advisory Team The Corporate Advisory team is deliberately structured to give you real variety. It blends Corporate Finance and Business Recovery & Insolvency, meaning you gain exposure to both growth and restructuring scenarios across a wide range of industries. You will work closely with senior Partners who are national leaders in their fields, providing strong mentorship, commercial insight, and the opportunity to develop your own style and reputation. No disappearing into the background here. The Role This is a role for someone ready to step up and be seen. Depending on your experience, you will join as an Assistant Manager or Manager, taking ownership of key elements of engagements and playing an active role in client delivery and team leadership. Your work will span:

  • Due diligence engagements
  • Share and business valuations
  • Financial modelling (build, review, challenge)
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Equity raising and debt financing
  • Litigation support and independent reviews
  • Investigating accountant engagements
  • IFRS valuation and impairment reviews

You will be trusted to think, question, and advise, not just execute. About You You will likely be:

  • CA or CFA qualified (or equivalent)
  • With five or more year’s experience in Corporate Finance, including Due Diligence, Deal Advisory, Insolvency & Turnaround
  • Commercially curious, technically sound, and confident in communicating complex ideas clearly
  • Comfortable working directly with clients and senior stakeholders

Most importantly, you are someone who wants breadth, impact, and progression, not just a bigger title. Why New Zealand? Because life is not meant to be lived entirely in meeting rooms. New Zealand offers:

  • A globally respected professional environment
  • Short commutes and long weekends
  • Access to beaches, mountains, vineyards, and outdoor adventure
  • A pace of life that allows careers to thrive without burning people out

Many accountants who move here say the same thing: “I work hard, but I actually have a life again.” Relocation & Immigration The firm is open to both New Zealand residents and international candidates. Immigration support is available for successful non-resident applicants, with professional assistance provided through an appointed immigration advisor. Formal immigration steps are being progressed, and timing can be discussed openly as part of the process. This role is ideal for someone who wants to do meaningful advisory work, build real client relationships, and still have the energy to enjoy where they live. Corporate finance need not come at the expense of everything else. If this sounds like your kind of move, it is worth a conversation.
